Closures Zippers, Buttonholes & Loops

Closures are an undeniably important part of a garment and unavoidable if you plan on growing your garment sewing repertoire. Zippers and buttonholes don't have to be something to be dreaded. They can be really fun and they can even be the focal point of a garment.

In this class, Nicki LaFoille demonstrates how to insert zippers in several different ways: the lapped zipper, which is great in the side seam for a professional, the concealed zipper and the exposed zipper.

There are a lot of different ways to get the same kind of look for an exposed zipper, but used for different fabric and project scenarios. Nicki will demonstrate how to insert an exposed zipper in a seam and without a seam.

Nicki explains how to create a buttonhole by simply using a buttonhole foot and using the zigzag stitch on your machine. In-seam buttonholes are easy, understated and professional-looking. Nicki shows you how they're created and what design styles they are suitable for.

Learn the steps to get professional looking bound buttonholes. This detail adds a vintage, couture look to garments, and they don't have to only be used on wool jackets. Insert a bound buttonhole in a garment and it instantly adds a retro elegance that's always in style. Nicki shows you two different bound buttonhole methods to choose from.

Lastly learn about loops as closures, either elastic cord or tubing, and how to alter a pattern from buttonholes to buttons and loops.

Scopes system is one of the strongest pillars of JavaScript. Scopes not only touches the execution phase but it starts from the code authoring and extends its root in the compilation phase.

The course discusses every detail of how the scope is created and how does JavaScript engine deal with the code structure to come up with a blueprint which is then handed over to the Execution Engine. We will go in-depth in understanding how our program is processed by the compiler and what steps lead to the creation of scope.

We will cover the fundamentals of code patterns that helps us create a better organized code. We will look at how function expression, function declaration, blocks, modules and scripts are part of the scope system. We will cover in-depth detail of how and why immediately invoked function expressions (IIFE) works. Learn Internet of Things (IoT)

The Internet of things (IoT) describes the network of physical objects-"things" or objects-that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet.

Things have evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies, real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors, and embedded systems. Traditional fields of embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, control systems, automation (including home and building automation), and others all contribute to enabling the Internet of things. In the consumer market, IoT technology is most synonymous with products pertaining to the concept of the "smart home", including devices and appliances (such as lighting fixtures, thermostats, home security systems and cameras, and other home appliances) that support one or more common ecosystems, and can be controlled via devices associated with that ecosystem, such as smartphones and smart speakers. IoT can also be used in healthcare systems.

Learn RFID

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. An RFID system consists of a tiny radio transponder, a radio receiver and transmitter. When triggered by an electromagnetic interrogation pulse from a nearby RFID reader device, the tag transmits digital data, usually an identifying inventory number, back to the reader. This number can be used to track inventory goods.

Learn WSN

Wireless sensor network (WSN) refers to a group of spatially dispersed and dedicated sensors for monitoring and recording the physical conditions of the environment and organizing the collected data at a central location. WSNs measure environmental conditions like temperature, sound, pollution levels, humidity, wind, and so on.

Nowadays, wireless technologies penetrate all aspects of our lives. "Internet of Things" (IoT) and "Location- Based Services" are the pillars of Smart City concept. David received his advanced blackbelt teaching certifications from Grandmaster Haim Gidon, the world's highest ranked krav maga instructor. David has trained all branches of the U.S. military including the United States Marine Corp's Special Operations Command (MARSOC) along with the Royal Marines including dozens of other special operations personnel.

He has also taught at many respected hand-to-hand combat schools including at the Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command, Marine Corps Martial Arts School of Excellence, Quantico, (MACE) and U.S. Army Combatives School, Fort Benning. David has also trained more than 220 federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies including having taught at the FBI Academy (Quantico) and is a certified instructor by the State of New Jersey Police Training Commission. PBA 130 awarded David a lifetime achievement silver card by for his pro bono LE work. David works with NFL players including several Pro Bowlers.
