Ember is a sophisticated microsound collage tool that employs granular resynthesis to configure complex sound composites. Inspired by musique concrète pioneers of the past several decades, Ember harnesses modern digital algorithms with classic splicing techniques to create dense and evolving soundscapes. Point it to a folder of sounds and Ember will generate a composite of granular textures that you can later use in your electronic composition process.

Ember employs granular resynthesis in the powerful Csound sound programming language to explore a collage of sounds on the particle level. Select a folder containing more than one sound and an output folder. Hit "Render" and Ember pulls a number of sounds from the folder and selects a playback slice from each one. It then creates granular composites of all sounds together with various time stretching, density and spatial algorithms.
Ember Controls
- Composite Time - The length of the output recording (in seconds)
- Min Sound Dur - the minimum length to slice a sound (in seconds)
- Max Sound Dur - the maximum length to slice a sound (in seconds)
- BINARL - Create a spatial audio (binaural) mix
- RENDER - Load the samples and begin processing. Abort the recording by pressing it again.

Lore isn't simply a synth or effect but a crowd-funded, continuously updated environment for manipulating and processing sounds. Currently, Lore functions as a granular and spectral processor that opens as a plugin in a host like Ableton Live or Logic.
Lore dissects audio into tiny particles that can be stretched, spectrally delayed and surgically altered on very specific frequency bands. From there everything can be modulated for dynamically shifting, constantly-evolving sound sculptures.
Lore is an open-source project, developed by Puremagnetik artist and lead developer Micah Frank and supported by monthly patrons. Much of Puremagnetik's development for the past several years has culminated into experimental sound processing tools. Lore absorbs these tools into a flagship, modular environment.

Shrike is an advanced shimmer designer. It processes an octave-shifted reverb through a matrix of 4 LFOs to create pulsating, fluctuating space effects. Between the different LFO settings (rate and waveform) you can generate cross-modulation from the controls, getting pulses and swell patterns that never repeat.

For example, it is interesting to set different rates per control for overlapping, modulating spaces. Or turn the LFO rates toward the fastest speed for amplitude modulation artifacts. A slapback delay adds to the sound design possibilities as you can adjust it according to your spatial feedback needs.
Shrike Controls & Quick Start
- DECAY - Reverb length with LFO control. Includes BPM-synced SPEED and waveform controls.
- DRAW - Controls amount of modulation through the reverb and creates a tremolo type effect. Speed controls the speed of the modulation (BPM-synced).
- FEEDBACK - Slapback echo amount. Right and Left channels are offset by a few milliseconds for spatialization/phase effects.

This is technically Deep Learning in Python part 11 of my deep learning series, and my 3rd reinforcement learning course.
Deep Reinforcement Learning is actually the combination of 2 topics: Reinforcement Learning and Deep Learning (Neural Networks).
While both of these have been around for quite some time, it's only been recently that Deep Learning has really taken off, and along with it, Reinforcement Learning.
The maturation of deep learning has propelled advances in reinforcement learning, which has been around since the 1980s, although some aspects of it, such as the Bellman equation, have been for much longer.
Recently, these advances have allowed us to showcase just how powerful reinforcement learning can be.
We've seen how AlphaZero can master the game of Go using only self-play.
This is just a few years after the original AlphaGo already beat a world champion in Go.
We've seen real-world robots learn how to walk, and even recover after being kicked over, despite only being trained using simulation.
Simulation is nice because it doesn't require actual hardware, which is expensive. If your agent falls down, no real damage is done.
We've seen real-world robots learn hand dexterity, which is no small feat.
Walking is one thing, but that involves coarse movements. Hand dexterity is complex - you have many degrees of freedom and many of the forces involved are extremely subtle.
Imagine using your foot to do something you usually do with your hand, and you immediately understand why this would be difficult.
Last but not least - video games.
Even just considering the past few months, we've seen some amazing developments. AIs are now beating professional players in CS:GO and Dota 2.
So what makes this course different from the first two?
Now that we know deep learning works with reinforcement learning, the question becomes: how do we improve these algorithms?
This course is going to show you a few different ways: including the powerful A2C (Advantage Actor-Critic) algorithm, the DDPG (Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient) algorithm, and evolution strategies.
Evolution strategies is a new and fresh take on reinforcement learning, that kind of throws away all the old theory in favor of a more "black box" approach, inspired by biological evolution.
What's also great about this new course is the variety of environments we get to look at.
First, we're going to look at the classic Atari environments. These are important because they show that reinforcement learning agents can learn based on images alone.
Second, we're going to look at MuJoCo, which is a physics simulator. This is the first step to building a robot that can navigate the real-world and understand physics - we first have to show it can work with simulated physics.
Finally, we're going to look at Flappy Bird, everyone's favorite mobile game just a few years ago.

Description
Conventional orthodontic correction of Class II deep-bite deformity with a decreased lower anterior facial height tendency can be mechanically difficult, inefficient, and, in many instances, impossible. Orthodontic treatment alone of either adults or adolescents with such deformities frequently can neither increase lower anterior facial height sufficiently to achieve ideal facial proportions nor achieve long-term occlusal stability. Despite the need for surgical intervention to achieve satisfactory occlusal and esthetic results, many patients with such deformities are still being treated in clinical practice by traditional orthodontic procedures, with less than ideal esthetic and/or occlusal results. The challenge to achieve efficient and stable treatment of this deformity has been met by the use of various surgical techniques in combination with orthodontic treatment. This combined surgical-orthodontic approach can provide increased treatment efficiency, long-term stability, and optimal esthetic results. The proper sequencing and correct selection of orthodontic mechanotherapy are essential to ensure the desired results. The purpose of this course is to detail basic problems involved in diagnosis and treatment planning for the combined surgical-orthodontic approach to patients exhibiting Class II deep bite and decreased lower facial height. Orthodontic and surgical treatment objectives are explained, and representative case reports are presented and discussed to illustrate this method of treatment. Extraction patterns, control of the transverse dimension, arch wire selection, auxiliary wires, elastics, and extraoral appliance use are described.
